The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven Emirates situated on the Arabian peninsula. The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has a population of 2 million and holds 9% of the world’s oil reserves and 5% of the world’s gas reserves. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE. In 2007, the Abu Dhabi Government identified a number of priority areas to drive the diversification of the economy and reduce the country’s reliance on hydrocarbons. Today, 48% of Abu Dhabi’s total GDP is non-oil & gas related.
