risperdal® (risperidone) is an atypical antipsychotic drug licensed to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. It comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only. Risperdal tablets are available in numerous strengths, ranging from 0.25 mg to 4 mg.
The recommended starting Risperdal dose for treating schizophrenia in adults is either 1 mg twice daily or 2 mg once daily. If necessary, your healthcare provider may increase your dose up to 16 mg total per day (which can be taken as four, 4 mg Risperdal tablets)
